Actress and TV hostess Rachel McAdams
presented the award for the development of the innovative Cinelux
Première cinema projection lens. According to the jury, these lens
systems offer increased sharpness and more uniform illumination of
the movie screen.
This is the
sixth time that staff from Schneider-Kreuznach
has received a Technical Achievement Award.
"These awards are an
impressive testimony of our strong position in the industry," said
Dr. Josef Staub, Schneider-Kreuznach's CEO. "We have been a global
market leader in analog cinema/projection for years. However, the
future clearly belongs to digital cinema. We have recognized this
trend and are also successfully engaged in the field of digital
cinema."
The Cinelux
Première brand was introduced in 2003 and is currently comprised
of 25 cinema projection lenses. The series offers lens systems with
focal lengths between 32.5 mm and 100 mm and an iris diaphragm that
is infinitely variable between 1.7 and 4.
"The Cinelux Première technology is revolutionary," said product
manager Thorsten Meywald." Aspheric technology and the
variable iris diaphragm make Cinelux Première the most powerful
cinema projection lens currently available on the market."
A scientific
development with practical benefit: Moviegoers benefit from brilliant
pictures and a uniformly and brightly illuminated screen. Cinelux
Première, offering 40 percent more light output than conventional
lens systems, can be used for larger screens. Furthermore, the
iris diaphragm enables simple and fast adaptation of the
brightness to different film formats and increased depth of field.
This system, Made in
Germany, not only offers superior performance, but also a compelling
appearance: The gold-finished aluminum housing lends the
high-performance lens a refined appearance. Schneider-Kreuznach
positions Cinelux Première lens system as a premium product with a
four-digit euro price tag.
The group operates in five business areas: photography, cinema/projection,
industrial optics, ophthalmic optics, and servo-hydraulic systems.
Familiar brands include Angulon, Symmar, Xenar, Xenon, Variogon,
Cinelux, and B+W Filters. Schneider Kreuznach has been among the
global market leaders for high-performance lens systems for many
years. The company is the international No. 1 when it comes to cinema/projection
applications. In addition, the Schneider Group is also active in the
promising areas of digital projection, home movies,
e-cinema, and simulation. Schneider's main markets are the
United States, Japan, China, India, South Korea, Brazil, and Europe.
